Well it has been months in the building. Finally this week we cut the ribbon on the new houses and got chick delivery. The group photo of us for those who do not know my sitter and brother in law. L-R- Jim (brother-in-law) Debbie (sister) on the back-Mike McCready (New House Rep), then Jan, ET and Pete Sonstegard (our Serviceman). |
The houses are 60 foot wide by 560 feet long. They are completely enclosed and computer controlled like our others, but they are "new and improved" |
|
We had gotten the other farms (7 houses) a couple of days prior so it has really been busy around here. |

The computer room where everything is controlled. It keeps track of everything that goes on within the chicken house. |

The outside fogger pans are re-circulating which saves so much on your well with water use. They are located on the front and down the sides. The tunnel fans on the end pull cool air through the house as birds grow older and need cooler temps. It take a lot of tunnel fans for these houses! 6 on each side 2 on front and 2 on the back. As the fogger pads become wet the fans pull the moisture through causing it to evaporate and cool. I always said it is like air conditioning for chickens! |
The water lines are what we call nipple drinkers and we have used these successfully for years. There are 6 waterlines/drinker lines and 3 feed lines that run the length of the houses. |
